Leclerc wins Bahrain GP

Charles Leclerc won the 2022 Formula 1 Bahrain Grand Prix at the Bahrain International Circuit, securing Ferrari's first race victory since the 2019 Singapore Grand Prix and his first win since the 2019 Italian Grand Prix.

Ferrari achieved a 1-2 finish with Carlos Sainz second, following Max Verstappen's retirement two laps from the end due to a steering issue and Sergio Perez's engine failure on the final lap—both Red Bull RB18 cars retired in the closing stages.

Zhou Guanyu finished tenth in his Formula 1 debut for Alfa Romeo, becoming the first Chinese driver to score points in a Grand Prix; he overtook Lewis Hamilton during the race as the Mercedes driver struggled with cold tyres after his first pit stop.

The result marked Zhou Guanyu's sole point-scoring finish in the 2022 season and placed him among only 66 drivers in F1 history to earn points on debut.

Ferrari's F1-75 demonstrated sustained competitiveness, converting dominant pre-season testing pace into a decisive race win under official championship conditions.
